About Us
Uptown Coffee Bakery & Cafe is a touchstone in the Mt. Lebanon commercial corridor along Washington Road. Opened in 1995 by Elizabeth Boyd, the spacious cafe is frequented by everyone from laptop-toting workers to moms with kids and couples out for a late-night spin. Pinpoint lighting accents brightly-colored walls and cozy conversation areas welcome customers. While coffee, tea and assorted drinks are part of the mix and the lunchtime crowd is keen on deli-style sandwiches, the stars of the show are the homemade baked goods. Resident baker Boyd is a fixture in the kitchen, turning out a procession of muffins, breads, cookies and biscotti as morning gives way to afternoon. Our pies and cakes provide endless temptation and lucky is the visitor who walks in on the day she's baked her grandma's signature coffee cake. Weekend mornings are special at Uptown as folks stream in for just-out-of-the-oven cinnamon rolls, sticky buns and scones.
